Physical Therapy

  • Physical therapists are highly trained medical professionals working in the physical medicine arena. Physical therapy (PT) attempts to address the illnesses, or injuries that limit a person's abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. Physical Therapists use an individual's history and physical examination findings to arrive at a diagnosis and establish a management plan and when necessary incorporate the results of laboratory and imaging studies like X-rays, CT-scan, or MRI findings. Physical Therapy management commonly includes prescription of or assistance with specific exercises/stretches, manual therapy/massage and traction. Ultrasound therapy, electrical stimulation, heat therapy and cold therapy or also frequently used to assist healing and restore function.
